Create Categories & Lessons in Products
If you've not yet created, outlined, or branded your Product in Memberships, please start with this article to learn about Product creation. Once your Product is ready, you will return here to learn about Lesson structure within the Product.
Creating a Category within a Product
Individual lessons will live inside categories and/or subcategories.
See the image below for how to add new categories, lessons, subcategories, and assessments
- To start, you'll want to properly name the Category in which your Lesson(s) appears.
Be sure to click on the Category name and not the '+.'
Once inside, you can edit the Category title and description.

- You will add lessons, subcategories, or assessments to this Category specifically by hitting the '+' sign.
- Adding the thumbnail is optional, however, thumbnails per Lesson add to the professional look of the course.
- With the Category prepared, we are ready to add individual Lessons.
Creating a Lesson within a Category
As you work, save and preview your work regularly to better understand how your course will appear to your members and how your updates are reflected.
Click on the Lesson title that you would like to edit.
- Within each Lesson, you can edit/upload the following:
- Add your own custom video (not required).
- Supported video types are .mp4, .webm, and .mov with a max sixe of 4GB per post/lesson.
- Edit the title of the lesson
- Edit the body of each lesson with specific text, links and images
- Upload a custom lesson thumbnail
- Upload any relevant lesson files (if necessary)
- Add your own custom video (not required).
- Continue to build out each category and lesson until the course is complete! By the end, you should get something that looks like the samples below.
