Buyers in your Sales Portal and the Kilo app can purchase a package on behalf of someone else, such as a child, partner, or family member. They choose who the purchase is for during checkout and can create the right profile at that point, so the person doesn't need a profile before the purchase.
What you can do with purchasing on behalf of an athlete
Let buyers purchase for themselves or someone else in the same checkout
Let buyers create a linked or dependent profile during checkout
Tie each purchase to the correct athlete from the start
Keep attendance, billing, and communication records accurate
How buyers choose who the purchase is for
The buyer chooses a billing plan, then logs in or creates an account in the Your Account step. This is the buyer's own account, even when they're purchasing for someone else.
In the Who Is This For? step, the buyer selects themselves (shown with their name and (Myself)), someone already connected to their profile, Add a Linked Profile (unique email/login), or Add a Dependent Profile (managed by you).
The buyer clicks Continue and completes the rest of checkout.
The Order Summary lists the Athlete the package is for, so the buyer can confirm it's going to the right person before clicking Confirm purchase. For every checkout step, see Sales Portal Checkout in Kilo GMS.
Linked profile vs. dependent profile: which should buyers choose?
Profile type | Best for | How they log in | Who signs the waiver |
|---|---|---|---|
Linked Profile | A partner, adult family member, or older child with their own email address | With their own email and password | The linked athlete, later, from their own account |
Dependent Profile | A child or family member who shares the buyer's email address | They don't log in separately. The buyer manages their account. | The buyer, during checkout |
Both profile types appear as connected profiles on the athlete records after the purchase.
Frequently asked questions
Does the person need a profile before someone buys a package for them?
No. The buyer can create a linked or dependent profile during checkout. If the person is already connected to the buyer's profile, they appear as an option in the Who Is This For? step.
Why does a linked athlete still need to sign a waiver after the purchase?
A linked athlete has their own account, so they sign their own waiver from that account. The buyer accepts the agreement during checkout because they're the one being billed.
Can a dependent log in to Kilo?
No. A dependent shares the buyer's email address and doesn't have a separate login. If the person needs their own login, the buyer should choose Add a Linked Profile and use that person's email address.
Whose payment method is used?
The buyer's. Payment methods added to a main account or any of its linked or dependent profiles are shared across the whole account group.
