An RSS email campaign sends an email to your contacts automatically whenever you publish a new blog post. You build an email template containing an RSS Items block, point it at your blog's feed, and schedule the campaign. After that, publishing a post is all it takes to notify your list.
You do not have to build the template yourself. Request an RSS Feed Email Campaign Template from us at https://usekilo.com/request/add-rss-email-campaign/ and we will set one up for you.
What you can do with an RSS email campaign
Email your contacts automatically whenever you publish a blog post
Pull post content straight from your blog's feed into the email
Send on a schedule you choose rather than manually
Set your own sender name, sender address, and subject line
Send to your whole contact list or to a specific segment
Find your blog's RSS feed
You need this URL twice, once in the email template and once in the campaign schedule, so get it first.
Go to your website.
Add
/feedto the end of your website address, for examplehttps://yourwebsite.com/feed.Copy the URL.
Build the email template
Go to Marketing in the left menu of your Gym Lead Machine account.
Click New and select the Design Editor.
Add a header image at the top of the email.
Drag the RSS Items block into the template. This is what pulls content from your blog's feed.
Paste your RSS feed URL into the field on the RSS Items block.
Add your pre-designed footer, which keeps the email compliant with email standards.
Save the template.
Schedule the campaign
Select RSS Schedule.
Enter your RSS feed URL.
Choose how often the campaign checks the feed and sends, for example every day at 10 AM.
Enter the sender email address.
Add a sender name if you want one. This is optional.
Write the subject line, for example "Check Out Our New Blog Post!"
Choose your recipients. You can send to your whole contact list or to a specific segment.
Because this campaign sends repeatedly and without review, the recipient list you choose here matters more than it does for a one-off send. Sending to a filtered list of valid, subscribed contacts protects your sender reputation over time.
Activate the campaign
Review the template, the schedule, the sender details, and the recipient list.
Activate the campaign.
Emails now send automatically whenever your RSS feed updates.
Frequently asked questions
Where do I find my RSS feed URL?
Add /feed to the end of your website address. For a site at https://yourwebsite.com, the feed is at https://yourwebsite.com/feed.
Do I really need to enter the feed URL twice?
Yes. The RSS Items block and the RSS Schedule each need it. The block uses it to pull the post content into the email, and the schedule uses it to know when a new post has been published.
When do the emails actually send?
When your RSS feed updates, on the schedule you set. Publishing a blog post updates the feed, and the campaign sends at its next scheduled check.
Can I send to only some of my contacts?
Yes. Choose a specific segment instead of your whole contact list when you set up the schedule.
Can someone build the template for me?
Yes. Request an RSS Feed Email Campaign Template and we will set it up for you. The request link is at the top of this article.
Helpful tips
Copy your feed URL before you start, since you will need it in two places
Publish a test post to confirm the campaign picks it up before relying on it
Choose a sending time that suits your audience rather than the moment you publish
Send to a filtered segment rather than your whole list, since this campaign runs indefinitely
Write a subject line that works for any post, because the same one goes out every time
