Lead Magnet Form Explained

Authors list

The Lead Magnet Form is a pre-built form near the bottom of the Home page on most Kilo websites. It offers visitors a free guide in exchange for their name and email, and it connects to the Lead Magnet Campaign in Gym Lead Machine, which sends the guide and follows up automatically.

What you can do with the Lead Magnet Form

  • Capture the names and emails of website visitors who aren't ready to book

  • Deliver a free guide to every new contact automatically

  • Nurture contacts toward booking an intro with a series of follow-up emails

  • Swap the guide on your website for another Kilo guide or one of your own

  • Edit the emails, timing, and steps in the Lead Magnet Campaign

How does the Lead Magnet Form work?

The Lead Magnet Form is your website's secondary call to action. Your website's main call to action asks visitors to book an appointment. Some visitors aren't ready for that, and the Lead Magnet Form gives them another way to connect with your gym by trading their contact information for a free guide.

Kilo provides these guides:

  • 15 At-Home Workouts

  • 10 Easy Meal Prep Recipes

  • 6 Free Health Apps (North America only)

When your website is built, it includes the most recent guide, or the one that applies to your region.

The form asks only for a name and email, with no phone number field. Fewer fields means more visitors fill it out, so you capture contacts who would otherwise leave your site without a trace.

What happens when someone submits the Lead Magnet Form?

The visitor sees a thank-you message and stays on the same page, and several automated actions run in Gym Lead Machine:

  1. The contact is added to your Gym Lead Machine database.

  2. The contact receives the lead magnet form tag and the general lead tag.

  3. Your staff get an email notification and a push notification in the app.

  4. The contact enters the Lead Magnet Campaign.

The Lead Magnet Campaign sends three automated emails. The first thanks the contact for their interest and includes the guide as a PDF. The next two keep the contact engaged and encourage them to book an intro.

Note

Lead Magnet Form contacts don't enter your Fitness Pipeline or Nutrition Pipeline. Without a phone number, they're considered cold leads. You can move a contact into a pipeline yourself at any time.

Change the guide on your website

The guide on your website and the guide in the Lead Magnet Campaign emails need to match, so update both together.

To change the guide on your website, submit a change lead magnet request form.

  • If you choose another Kilo guide, Kilo updates the Lead Magnet Campaign for you, so the emails link to the right guide.

  • If you choose a guide of your own, you'll be asked for the file so Kilo can update the campaign, or you can update the campaign yourself.

Edit the Lead Magnet Campaign

Open the campaign

  1. Go to Automation in the Gym Lead Machine menu.

  2. Click the Fitness Campaigns folder.

  3. Find the Lead Magnet Campaign. You can also search for "Lead Magnet" in the search field in the upper right corner.

  4. Click the Lead Magnet Campaign to open it.

The campaign shows its automated messages and the wait steps that control when each message sends.

Edit a message

  1. Click the message you want to edit.

  2. Change the text in the box on the right side of the screen.

Update the emails for a new guide

If you're switching to your own guide, update the guide references in the first two emails:

  1. In Email 1, update the subject line.

  2. In Email 1, update the linked text and the copy in the second paragraph.

  3. In Email 2, update the linked text and the copy in the first paragraph.

You can edit any other text in the emails as well.

Change the timing and steps

  • Change when messages send by editing or rearranging the Wait steps. They're set to default delays chosen to help convert leads, and you can adjust them.

  • Add a step by clicking the plus button. You can add messages, such as Send Email or Send SMS, wait steps, or other automated actions.

  • Move, copy, or delete a step by clicking the circle with three dots on that step.

Frequently asked questions

Why aren't my Lead Magnet Form contacts showing up in my pipeline?

Lead Magnet Form contacts don't enter either opportunity pipeline. The form doesn't collect a phone number, so these contacts are treated as cold leads. You can move a contact into your pipeline yourself whenever they show more interest.

Can I use my own guide as the lead magnet?

Yes. Submit a change lead magnet request form and provide your guide. Kilo can update the Lead Magnet Campaign with your file, or you can update the guide links in Email 1 and Email 2 yourself.

How many emails does the Lead Magnet Campaign send?

Three. The first email delivers the guide and thanks the contact. The next two encourage them to book an intro. You can add more emails or SMS messages to the campaign.

Will I be notified when someone fills out the Lead Magnet Form?

Yes. Your staff get an email notification and a push notification in the app for each submission.
