December 2023 Newsletter

[NAME], we’re heading into the last month of the year, and I want to talk about two things: progress and gratitude.

First, progress.

Whether you’ve trained all year or just part of the year, I want you to think back to the first workouts you did in 2023. I bet you can remember some of them perfectly.

What did you lift? How fast did you move? How did you feel?

Now fast-forward to the workouts you did last week and last month.

I want you to take a second to compare the two versions of yourself.

I bet you’re stronger now. I bet your balance and flexibility are better. I bet you have more stamina and endurance. I bet you can generate more power. Maybe you lost weight that you wanted to lose. Or maybe you gained some muscle.

What about your mindset? Do you feel more confident and more capable? Do you feel a sense of pride when you think about all the work you put in? I sure hope so!

I won’t roll out the cliché about taking joy in the journey instead of focusing on the destination. It’s OK to focus on your goals—they’re important. I’ll just say this:

Be sure to take your eye off your ultimate goal to look backward once in a while. If you do, you’ll be amazed at how far you’ve come, and you’ll be fired up to keep moving forward toward your goal.

Next, a word on gratitude.

I believe it’s important to express gratitude and develop the habit of being grateful. I try to look for bright spots regularly. When I look for things to be grateful for, I always find them. Then bad moods improve and good moods become great.

So today I want you to know I’m grateful for you and the opportunity to work with everyone at the gym.

It’s incredibly fulfilling to watch you reach your goals and set new ones, and I feel extremely lucky to coach such a great group of people. Thank you for your effort and your trust.

As you close out 2023, think of a few things you’re grateful for. You don’t have to share them with anyone—but feel free to hit “reply” if you want to.

Whatever you do, don’t let 2023 end without reviewing the great things in your life. If you’re having a tough day and can’t think of anything, I’ve got one for you: Feel grateful for the opportunity to take charge of your health and fitness. That’s a big one, and I’m proud of the way you work toward your goals. Keep it up!

In closing, thanks for all your work in 2023. I can’t wait to see what you accomplish in 2024. All the best to you and yours!
