What happens to existing backlinks?

In local SEO, backlinks from other websites still play an important role. These links help build authority and signal to Google that your business is trustworthy and relevant within your area.

Backlinks are links from other websites that point to your site. They are a key factor in how Google ranks your pages in local search results.

To preserve your backlink value during a redesign or rebuild, we:

  • Set up 301 redirects from old URLs to new ones > please send us the old URLs you would like to keep, so we can add redirects.
  • Keep your page structure as consistent as possible
  • Check for broken or missing links after launch

If redirects are handled properly, Google will transfer most of the SEO value from your old links to your new website. This helps maintain your authority and visibility in local search results.
