Tip of the Week #83: How to Set Up Lead Engagement Scoring in Gym Lead Machine
In Gym Lead Machine, you can assign scores to your leads based on how they interact with your messages—like opening emails or replying. This helps you quickly identify your most engaged prospects and take action at the right time.
Step 1: Access Lead Scoring
- Go to Settings
- Click on Manage Scoring
- You may see some default scoring rules already set up
Step 2: Create a New Scoring Rule
Let’s create a rule to reward engaged leads:
-
Click Add New Rule
Choose the condition:
- Contact has replied
-
AND Contact has the "Lead" tag
Set the score:
- +2 points when this happens
- Save the rule
- This means every time a lead replies, their engagement score increases.
Step 3: Add Negative Scoring (Optional)
You can also reduce scores for negative actions:
- Add another rule
-
Select Email Event → Email Bounced
Set the score:
- -1 point
- Save the rule
Step 4: Publish Your Scoring System
Before it works, you must:
- Click Publish
Once published, Gym Lead Machine will start tracking and updating scores automatically.
Step 5: View Engagement Scores
- Go to Contacts
- Open any contact
- You’ll see their Engagement Score next to their name
As leads open emails and reply, their score will increase over time.
Step 6: Use Scores in Workflows
You can trigger automations based on engagement levels:
Example:
- Create a workflow trigger:
-
Contact Engagement Score = 10
Add an action:
- Apply tag: "Engaged Contact"
-
Now you’ve identified your most active leads automatically
Step 7: Use Engagement Data Strategically
Once contacts are tagged as engaged, you can:
1. Prioritize hot leads
- Send internal notifications when they book appointments
2. Improve email campaigns
- Filter contacts by:
- Valid email
- Email DND = Disabled
- Tag = Engaged Contact
This ensures you’re only messaging people who are actually paying attention—leading to better open rates and responses.
Final Thoughts
Engagement scoring helps you focus on the leads most likely to convert over time. It won't be very effective from day 1, but the more your system runs, the smarter your targeting becomes.
