Where To Upload Voicemail Files

Voicemail For The Business - Sub-Account > Settings > Phone System tab > Click on the Voice tab on the top > Scroll down to where it says Voicemail and click where it says Upload Audio File

Setting Call Timeout for Voicemail to Work Properly

To replace the original voicemail of a forwarding number, you must configure the Incoming Call Timeout. If no timeout is set, calls will ring for the default 60 seconds, which often allows the forwarding number’s original voicemail to answer before your uploaded voicemail can play.

For best results, the Incoming Call Timeout should be set to less than 20 seconds.

Set the Incoming Call Timeout in Voicemail Settings

1. Go to your Voicemail settings.
2. Scroll above where you uploaded your voicemail audio file.
3. Locate Incoming Call Timeout.
4. Set the timeout to your desired value (recommended: under 20 seconds).

Adjust the Phone Number Call Timeout

For voicemail to trigger correctly, the call timeout on the phone number must be shorter than the timeout set in your voicemail settings.

If the phone number timeout is longer, the call may continue ringing instead of routing to your voicemail.

To update this setting:

1. Go to Phone Numbers in your account.
2. Locate the phone number you want to edit.
3. Click the pencil (edit) icon next to the number.
4. Find the Call Timeout setting.
5. Set this timeout to be shorter than the timeout configured in your voicemail settings.
6. Click Save.

Once configured correctly, calls will route to your uploaded voicemail before the forwarding number’s original voicemail can answer.
